Praha 36, or Two Pictures from Poland
only my mother/grandmother will really understand this one from Krakow...
little girl, who brought you here?
I want to sweep you into my arms, cover your eyes
and carry you away.
What person in their right mind
brings a child with a memory
to Auschwitz?

That child will grow wise before her time. A gift and a great source of pain for her as she gets older.
If we can teach children what happened in the past we,they, can prevent it from ever happening again.
Such horrors on such a great scale cannot and should not be hidden. What message would we be sending by hiding and sheilding children from things like Auschwitz?
I think that textbooks lie and that should not be all kids learn from.
But then again this begs the question "How young is too young?"

Hi D -
Greetings from the Snowy Loonybin!
Thank you for that great Herbalife shot! It is sold in many countries - and isn't it friendly to see such a reminder of home? (just kidding)
As for the little girl, the wonderful thing about our minds is that they can only take in what they can handle. Over time, snippets of this trip may come up for her and she'll ask her parents about it. But for now, her mind is probably shielding her pretty well. And she will grow up with a better understanding of the Holocaust than she otherwise would have. So I'm not sure it's a great place to bring a child, but I don't think it's totally crazy.

P.S. I hope you are feeling better!
